ActiveSync Configuration
Overview
ActiveSync allows you to synchronize your email, calendar, and contacts between your Vodia PBX system and mobile devices or email clients. This feature enables you to keep your communication and scheduling information consistent across all your devices.
Getting Started
Before configuring ActiveSync, ensure you have:
- Valid email account credentials
- The address of your email server
- Determined whether your server requires a secure certificate
- Identified if you want to sync calendar events
- Decided which conference room (if any) to associate with your calendar
How to Configure ActiveSync
- Navigate to the ActiveSync configuration page in your Vodia PBX user settings
- Enter the required information as detailed below
- Click the Save button to apply your settings
Changes will take effect immediately after saving.
Settings
Username
Enter the username for your email account. This is typically your email address or account name.
Password
Enter the password associated with your email account.
The password is stored securely but should still be kept confidential.
Server Address
Enter the address of your email server. This can be a URL or IP address.
Verify Certificate
Toggle this option to determine whether the system should verify the server's security certificate.
- On: The system will verify that the email server has a valid security certificate
- Off: The system will connect without certificate verification (less secure)
Sync Calendar
Toggle this option to enable or disable calendar synchronization.
- On: Calendar events will be synchronized between your email account and Vodia PBX
- Off: Calendar events will not be synchronized
Conference Room
Select a conference room to associate with your calendar events. When a calendar event includes a meeting, it can automatically be assigned to the selected conference room.
Options include all available conference rooms configured in your Vodia PBX system.
Sync Timer
Set how frequently (in minutes) the system should check for updates and synchronize with your email server.
Option | Synchronization Interval |
---|---|
Off | No automatic synchronization |
15 | Sync every 15 minutes |
30 | Sync every 30 minutes |
45 | Sync every 45 minutes |
60 | Sync every 60 minutes |
More frequent synchronization provides up-to-date information but may increase system load. Choose a sync interval that balances your need for current information with system performance.
Troubleshooting
Connection Issues
If you experience connection problems:
- Verify that your username and password are correct
- Check that the server address is entered correctly
- Ensure your email server supports ActiveSync
- If using certificate verification, confirm your server has a valid certificate
Calendar Events Not Appearing
If calendar events aren't synchronizing properly:
- Verify the "Sync Calendar" option is enabled
- Check your sync timer settings
- Ensure your email account has calendar permissions
