Adding files

You have the ability to customize by uploading your own audio files to use for general purpose or ringback tones. To add an audio file:

1. Navigate to Cutomize -> Upload Audio. Click the "Add" button

2. Type a description and choose the appropriate options from the drop-down menus

3. Upload the audio file that you would like to add. Any audio format the browser can play (for example WAV or MP3) is accepted and converted to 8 kHz mono WAV automatically (PBX version 69.3.1 or higher).

For ring patterns, the system can add a ring pattern to your file. This makes it easy to generate variants of your ring melody. If the file should not be changed, select None.

Ring melodies (version 70)

In version 70 the ring melodies have their own Ringtones section at the top of the page, listing all ten ringtones (Internal Call, External Call, Ringer 1 to 8). On the system admin page, the Tenant picker at the top of the section chooses what the list shows:

• All tenants: the defaults for all tenants. Edit replaces a default for every tenant that hasn't replaced it itself. The Tenants with their own file column lists the tenants that have replaced that ringtone; click a tenant to switch to it.
• A tenant: the ringtones that tenant plays. Ringtones it hasn't replaced show Default for all tenants. Edit replaces a ringtone for that tenant only, the same as on the tenant's own Upload Audio page.

For a ringtone that has been replaced in the chosen view, the Edit dialog also offers Reset to default. For all tenants this goes back to the built-in sound; for a tenant it goes back to the default for all tenants.

When replacing a ringtone, the upload dialog offers these options:

• Ring pattern: the cadence applied to the file. The file plays during the ring time and restarts with every ring; the rest is silence.
  • Use the file as is (no cadence): the file is only converted to 8 kHz mono WAV, nothing else is changed. The file can be up to 30 seconds long.
  • Country presets: North America (2 s ring / 4 s silence), United Kingdom, Australia and Japan (1 s / 2 s), Germany, Italy, Brazil and China (1 s / 4 s), France (1.5 s / 3.5 s).
  • Ring bursts: the patterns from earlier versions (1-0-1, 1-0-1-0-1 and so on).
  • Custom: enter the ring time (0.1–10 s) and the silence (0–10 s).
• Volume: 25% to 200% of the original level.
• Preview: plays the result in a loop, the same way the phones play it.

Files can be up to 20 MB. Phones repeat the ring melody until the call is answered, so no loop setting is needed.

After the file has been uploaded, you can play it back to test it by clicking on the green play button towards the right of the screen.
