Troubleshooting

Calls Don't Ring When the App Is Closed

Incoming calls are delivered through Apple's push service, which works even when the app has been closed for days. If calls don't come through:

  • Check notification permission. Open iOS Settings → Apps → Vodia Phone → Notifications and make sure notifications are allowed.
  • Check "Limit IP Address Tracking". This iOS privacy feature can interfere with the app's connection to the PBX. Turn it off for the networks you use: Settings → Wi-Fi → (your network) and Settings → Cellular → Cellular Data Options, then toggle off "Limit IP Address Tracking".
  • The PBX must be reachable from the internet. If the PBX runs on a private network, the app can only connect while your phone is in that network (e.g. on the office Wi-Fi). Outside of it, the push notification will still arrive and the phone will ring, but the call cannot connect. Ask your administrator whether the PBX is reachable from outside.

No Audio in Calls

  • Check microphone permission under iOS Settings → Apps → Vodia Phone — the microphone toggle must be on.
  • If the other side can't hear you in a specific call, check that you are not muted and that the right audio device is selected with the Audio button on the call screen.

Certificate / Connection Errors

The app connects to the PBX over HTTPS. The server should use a valid certificate — for example one generated automatically through the Let's Encrypt integration of the PBX. A quick test: open the PBX address in Safari on the phone; if Safari shows a certificate warning, the app will have trouble too.

I Don't See Chat / Text Options

The "Start a new chat" and "Text" options only appear when SMS/messaging is enabled on the phone system. Ask your administrator.

Signing In Again

If the app cannot register (for example after your password was changed), sign out via Settings → Logout and scan a fresh QR code. See Installation & Login.

Reporting a Problem

When you contact support about an app problem, it helps to enable Debug Mode in the app settings beforehand and reproduce the issue, so the app collects diagnostic information. Please also include the app version (shown at the bottom of the settings), your iOS version, and the approximate time the problem occurred.
